Without the right coverage, one slip, one fall can you cost your business.

Put our experience and expertise to work for you.

Asset Protection Begins with a Strong Foundation of Liability Insurance

Whether you’re a start-up, an expanding business, or an established company with several locations, Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance provides a first line of defense against a variety of claims. The policy offers broad coverage for third-party liability injuries, third-party property damage, product liability, and advertising injuries. It will pay for legal fees and the third-party judgment or settlement, up to the liability amount on your policy.

What’s important when structuring the CGL is determining how much Liability coverage you should carry to protect your assets and what additional policies or endorsements you need to step in to fill in any coverage gaps that may exist. That’s where the professionals at Regan Agency come in.

Inside Your Exposures

Under a CGL, you’re covered in the event of a lawsuit in which a customer, vendor, or other third party gets injured – slips and falls are the most common. It will also respond to claims of libel and slander and protect you in the event a defective product lands in the hands of a customer and causes injury. You have a choice of limits that should address your exposures and align with your risk tolerance – based how much you can afford to pay if there is a loss before it would negatively impact your business. You can obtain generous limits of liability but in the event of a catastrophic loss, we recommend also securing Commercial Umbrella insurance, which will step in after your General Liability limits are exhausted. In today’s litigious landscape, having that extra coverage is crucial.

Going Beyond the CGL

While you have broad coverage with Commercial General Liability insurance, there are risks that simply aren’t covered. The policy doesn’t cover claims related to your professional services. For this you need Professional Liability or Errors & Omissions insurance. Employment-related lawsuits, such as claims alleging discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, etc., typically are covered and require an endorsement to your CGL insurance or a separate policy. Other liability risks that should be examined for proper coverage placement include directors & officers, cyber liability, and fiduciary liability exposures. We will go over each of these risks with you during our review of your operation.
